Just Show Up. A love letter to every baker who's scared to take the first step.

This past weekend I did something terrifying.

I packed up my baked goods, set up a table, and put myself, and Sun House Sweets, out into the world for the very first time at a pop-up event for my daughter's softball team. It wasn't a perfectly curated market booth. It wasn't Instagram ready. And honestly? It didn't go exactly the way I had pictured it in my head.

But here's the thing I keep coming back to: I showed up.

If you're a new baker or a small business dreamer reading this, I want you to know something - the idea of putting your work out there is so much scarier than actually doing it. We spend weeks (sometimes months) perfecting our recipes, designing our packaging, dreaming up our brand, and then we freeze. Because what if people don't love it? What if something goes wrong?

Here's what I've learned: Something will go wrong. Your setup might not look the way you planned. Turn out might be smaller than you hoped. You might drive home replaying every moment, wondering if it was worth it.

It was worth it.

Every single time you show up, you learn something you could never learn in your kitchen alone. You learn how people interact with your table. You learn which items draw people in. You learn which events are right for for your business. You learn that you can handle the unexpected, and keep smiling while you do it. That's not failure. That's the education that builds a real business.

Sun House Sweets is still growing, still figuring it out, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Our first farmstand is coming up on May 30th, and I genuinely cannot wait. Not because everything will be perfect, but because I'll be there, giving it everything I've got.

If you've been sitting on a dream, a cottage bakery, a cookie side hustle, a little table at a local event, consider this your sign. You don't need to be ready. You just need to show up.

I'm cheering for you!
