How Sun House Sweets Was Born: A Southern California Home Bakery Story

Hello again! Here's how Sun House began:

Its been almost a year since my last blog post, and so much has happened! If you're new here, hi! I'm Jessica, and I am so happy you found your way here.

If you've been following Sun House for a while, you may have noticed things got quiet on my end. Life has a funny way of pulling you inward right when you need it most, and honestly, that's exactly what happened. I've been head down, working on the foundations of something I truly believe in. But today, I'm stepping back into the light, and I couldn't be more excited to share what that journey has looked like.

A difficult season that changed everything:

Sun House didn't start with a business plan. It started with a hard season. Life handed me a chapter I didn't choose, and somewhere in the middle of that, baking became my lifeline. I fell in love with flour dusted countertops, the smell of something warm in the oven, and keeping my hands busy when my mind needed to be quiet.

What began as baking for family slowly became baking for others. A neighbor. A friend. A small order here, a celebration cake there. And every single time someone tasted something made in my kitchen and loved it, I felt it. That warmth. That purpose. Sun House was already being born.

Why I named it Sun House:

The name started with a place. My home office is an enclosed patio, and honestly, it is the most beautiful little space. The light pours in, it feels warm and alive, and every time I sit in there I feel completely at peace. It feels exactly like a sun house. So when it came time to name the bakery growing out of that season of my life, the name came naturally, it already lived in that space with me.

But then something happened that made me certain it was right.

I started researching what "Sun House" actually meant and found myself deep in astrology, learning about the different houses and what each one represents. That's when I came across the 5th House. the house of creativity and passion. The place where you are meant to pour your heart and shine your light.

I genuinely felt it in my chest. This was it.

Sun House isn't just a business name. It's a declaration, this is where I shine. This is where I am enough. This is my house, and I'm going to thrive in it. Warmth. Home. Passion. Purpose. Every single thing I bake carries all of it.

My Southern California home bakery and where it's going:

Today, Sun House is a one-woman operation and I wear that proudly. From cakes to cookies, breads to pastries, every item is made by my hands with care that goes far beyond the recipe.

And I'm just getting started. I have big dreams for Sun House, including a packaging line I'm quietly building out, because I believe this brand can grow into something that inspires people in more ways than one.

The back-end work is done, and now it's time to show up again. I want to share what I've been building. I want to be in your feed not just as a bakery, but as a story you're rooting for, because every time you support Sun House, you become part of my journey.

Thank you for being here. Whether you've been following since the beginning or you're finding Sun House for the very first time, welcome. Pull up a seat. The oven is on.
